About the Item
A beautiful and exceptional quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu andirons. Each fire-gilded andiron is raised by most decorative fanciful scrolled supports with pierced and mottled designs. Above are two charming personages sitting facing each other. To the left is a lovely young boy dressed in period attire while to the right is a graceful young girl dressed in a beautiful flowing dress. Each sit facing each other while the boy is playfully holding a jug away from the girl who in turn is persuasively extending her cup towards him. Lovely subject matter and all original gilt throughout.
