Pair of Ornate French Patinated and Gilt Bronze Figural Chenets or Andirons

About the Item

These very large and substantial pair of figural patinated and gilt bronze chenets are unsigned, but presumed to have been made in France in circa 1850 in the Louis XVI style. These unique andirons feature standing children holding their hands and partially clad bodies close to the fire, while turning their heads away from the heat. These ornately cast and patinated children are standing on elaborate gilt bronze column styled pedestal with tasteful accents and paw feet.
