18th C. Italian Monumental Finial with its Original Finish

About the Item

An Italian carved-wood monumental finial, with its original finish, from the 18th century. This antique fragment from Italy has a shapely body, and has been beautifully pierce-carved with flowing acanthus leaves and sunflowers, that are supported by a nicely decorated urn-carved base. This piece retails its original finish, with areas of gilt throughout and a fabulously rich patina that shows its centuries old history. This 18th century Italian finial will make an attractive architectural ornament for your home, and stands approximately 4.5 feet in height.

This antique cabinet from Italy has a rectangular-shape, with front corners convexly scalloped inward, giving this piece a lovely shaped. The case houses a pair of smaller sized drawers set horizontally at top, above a pair of recessed panel doors at front. The skirting is heavily molded, and this chest is raised upon carved bracket-style feet which give open arch-shaped designs at the underside. The pair of doors open to reveal storage within, and flank a recessed panel at front which is adorn with a carved garland hanging downward within its center.
