36 Architectural 12" Bronze Brutalist Modernism Tiles from Millard Sheets 1962
About the Item
Set of thirty six, 12" tiles from the "Contours CV" Interpace line from Gladding, McBean Building Products CO, circa 1960's.
These were carefully reclaimed from a bank building in Los Angeles.
Introduced in 1962, Contours CV was created as a ceramic veneer to be used on inside and outside wall surfaces.
Under the direction of famed artist and designer Milard Sheets,
a creative team achieved a wonderfully flexible group of completely modern approaches to architectural facing with 12" square tiles in assorted design and glazes.
We are offering 36 tiles of shape #2A titled "Maze" with a custom metallic bronze glaze that has a warm antique patina.
(ref. page 67 GMcB, Interpace, Franciscan ceramic tile)
Climate, sun and wear have created different color variations to the bronze glaze.

This architectural piece is made of cast white glazed terra-cotta. Exquisitely detailed scroll and leaf pattern that can function incorporated into a building facade or a garden element. Good overall condition with some chips and overall crazing to the glaze, but structurally sound and sturdy. No structural cracks to compromise the integrity of the block tile.
