Brutalist Aluminium Door Panel with Antique Bronze Finish
About the Item
A Brutalist aluminium door panel with integrated handle and bronzed patina. Second half 20th century, found in Belgium.
A sculptural piece, unsigned, reminiscent of the style of Billy Joe McCarrol and David Gillespie for Forms + Surfaces. The panel has a textured surface with long contours; the central lateral section curves forward slightly. The handle is on the left, and integrated into the design. Two holes are positioned close to the left hand edge, each the size of a Euro lock cylinder.
Overall fair vintage condition with wear as one might expect from age and use. There are some losses to the finish around the handle and lower lock, and a small area in the top half. See images for overview and details (and zoom in).
This is a panel, not a complete door, with mounting tabs on the reverse that we have not attempted to remove (see image). Please be aware it is a reasonably heavy piece which will require suitable fixings and installation.
