Brutalist Bronze Door Furniture Set with Tree Bark Pattern

About the Item

A large and impressive Brutalist bronze door handle with tree bark design, together with matching keyhole plate and letterbox cover. European, second half 20th century. The pieces are heavily textured, with lots of movement and depth in the design. The relief appears to have been cast from part of a tree - possibly silver birch bark, with its characteristic horizontal lines - and has a very nice dark brown patina, with some green, best seen in the close-ups. Installation: The handle bracket is attached to the main plate by two bolts on the reverse, enabling it to be reversed if necessary; we have not tried to remove them. The handle is fitted to the door using two bolts as suit the thickness of your door and the weight of the metal, and the letterbox cover and keyhole surround also have pre-drilled holes; these fixings are not supplied. The items in this set have been left as found, unpolished; they show differing tones from exposure and various areas of use over time, and there are minor signs of age, as one might expect, including scratches, light traces of old paint and verdigris. Approximate dimensions: - Main plate of the handle is H 18.8cm x W 13.2cm. - The depth from the face of the door to the front face of the handle is approximately 8cm. - Letterbox cover: 28.8cm x 7.1cm x 2.2cm - Keyhole plate: 5.5cm x 5.5cm x 1.6cm The dimensions in the table refer to the handle only.
