About the Item
Unique industrial salvage large cranberry bog harvesting board, early 20th century. In the past, cranberries were harvested by hand and often involved the use of handcrafted tools and manual techniques. This large wood board features sifting/drainage lines carved through the wood and a tapered, funnel-like end to channel the berries. The board is well crafted and very sturdy with a beautiful patina. It is able to stand freely on its own and is deep enough, at nearly 5 inches, to hold items for storage or display. One side is flat while the other two have an interior bevel. It could be a creative design element hung on a wall, used as part of a potting bench, as a tabletop or a draining board. It appears to originally be supported by a base or legs. A rare industrial artifact with lots of visual interest and potential uses.
