Large Brutalist Bronze Door Handle with Tree Bark Pattern
About the Item
A large and impressive bronze door handle with tree bark design. European, second half 20th century.
The handle is heavily textured, with lots of movement and depth in the design. The relief appears to have been cast from part of a tree, possibly silver birch bark, with its characteristic horizontal lines. It has a very nice dark patinated finish, left as found, and best seen in the overview (image 2).
The patina shows differing tones from exposure and various areas of use over time, and there are minor signs of age, as one might expect, including scratches, light traces of old paint and verdigris.
Installation:
The handle is fitted to the door using two long bolts (not supplied) as suit the thickness of your door and the weight of the metal.
