Monumental Art Nouveau Architectural Glazed Terracotta Head

About

This absolutely stunning head once graced the facade of a Parisian building in the early twentieth century. Executed in the Art Nouveau style of the period, the flowing form was created by A. Janin & Guerineau of Paris France. Each of the nine sections are clearly stamped by the maker on the reverse sides. We have no documentation of the actual sculptor, but he was certainly a formidable talent. The work was sculpted by hand, then color glazed and fired, rather than created in a mold. All sections are in excellent condition, without any breakage or restoration issues. We have created a wooden easel back board to display it on, until permanently installed. There is also rubber cushioning inserted between the sections to prevent chipping. The sculptural work could be installed over an arched entryway, built over a fireplace, or set into an exterior fountain wall.
