Oversized Circa 1920 French Zinc Roof Finial as Lamp Base

About the Item

Crafted in France, circa 1920, this zinc roof finial was repurposed at a later date into an oversized lamp base. The metal has a gray hue but has developed areas of gold and black from exposure to the elements. Zinc finials are often used as decorative features atop roofs and domes, although in the case of our finial, a previous owner converted it into a unique lighting source. A six-and-a-half-inch thick plinth offers support and stability to the 18-inch diameter oval that rests on a circular base. The center of the sphere has a one-and-a-half-inch thick band with a large pricket extending from the top, which would support the light socket. At over 43 inches tall, our zinc finial would make a great lamp base for an entryway, library, or living room. It can also be used simply as a decorative piece of art, or even architecturally, on a roof or an outdoor setting. *Not currently wired for use in USA. Can be arranged upon request*
