About the Item

A set of two very attractive wrought iron panels or screens in art nouveau style, early 20th century. European, possibly German or Czechoslovakian. These screens are made of delicate wrought iron and would probably have been used as decorative screens on a pair of large double doors. The two panels are mirror images of each other. The screens are in vintage condition with signs of weathering throughout - they have a beautiful aged character and have been left as found. Lots of interesting patina, including rust and layers of old and faded paint (loose areas); the shape twists in places and the occasional weld is broken. We have described the condition as distressed to draw attention to these points. See images and zoom in for examples and overview. Please note, these screens need to be mounted or hung - in the images they simply hang on the wall - they are not free-standing. Approximate dimensions per piece: H: 127cm W: 42cm D*: 1-3cm *The frame is approximately 1cm front to back, with some greater depth in the scrolled sections, and where the outer line is twisted.
