An Antique English Carved Bath Stone Crest or Coat of Arms

About the Item

This very large scale antique stone crest features the Royal Coat of Arms for the City of Bath, where it was originally fitted to a local authority building. Motto of British monarchs; Dieu et mon droit (‘God and my right hand’ ) Motto of the Order of the Garter; Honi soit qui mal y pense (‘Evil to him who evil thinks') Good structural condition. Old flakey paint and minor weathering, losses and small historic repairs. This crest has previously been subject to a £20,000 restoration. When removed from its original setting it was restored and mounted on a custom made steel backing plate, which will allow secure mounting to a wall, or hanging from a chain. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor Losses, scuffs, and scratches.
