18th Century Continental Polychrome Scrolled Crest with Coat of Arms
About the Item
A wonderful architectural polychrome wooden crest with a center foliate carved decoration surmounting a hand painted man and woman with a coat of arms between them featuring red and black painted lions. Continental, dating to the 18th century, probably the crest of a sign or exterior doorway, with a hammered metal border with exterior wear. It has since been used as a wall decoration with old hangers on the back. This heavy crest is in good overall condition, with surface edge losses, paint losses, fading, and wear commensurate with age and exterior use. Dimensions: 40 in H x 49 in W x 3 in D. Ref: 54360
