Solid Cast Bronze Large Scale Room Divider Syracuse, NY 1964

About the Item

Lobby room divider from the Public Safety Building in Syracuse, NY sculpted in 1964. This is a magnificent example of Mid-Century Modern design. Composed of alternating pod-shaped sculpted bronze components securely fastened into a solid bronze frame, this room divider exudes an air of sophistication and artistry. It offers the versatility of being assembled as one seamless unit or separated into two sections. Large scale size with a total length of 209 inches, the divider comprises a 101-inch-long section and a 108-inch-long section and an overall height of 153 inches. Sculpted out of solid cast bronze. The meticulous planning for this masterpiece began in 1959, with construction commencing in July 1962 and concluding in 1964, under the guidance of King & King Architects. Assisting in the project were Coordinating Architects Gordon Schoper Ketcham-Miller-Arnold and Design and Planning Consultants Victor Gruen Associates and Raymond & May Associates.
