About the Item

This impressive basin / sink and stand is made from white and grey Carrara marble, the tap is nickel plated. The under-mount bowl is made from a single piece of Carrara marble. The taps have been reconditioned, including Nickel plating, and are in working condition. A very rare basin, both ourselves and our specialist restoration contractor know of no others in existence. George Jennings (10 November 1810 – 17 April 1882) was an English sanitary engineer and who invented the first public flushing toilets. Josiah George Jennings was born on 10 November 1810 in Eling, in Hampshire. In 1831 he became a plumber with Messrs. Lancelot Burton of Newcastle Street, London where his father had been a foreman before him. Additional Dimensions: Depth 87 cm plus 6 cm to set into a wall Basin 45cm diameter Depth of basin 19 cm.
