Antique Victorian ‘Excelsior’ Toilet
Located in Wormelow, Herefordshire
Antique Victorian ‘Excelsior’ Toilet. A reclaimed Victorian style ‘Excelsior’ toilet with a ‘P Trap’. There were three main types of water closets when they first began to emerge in the Victorian era. The Pan closet: An unsanitary basin with a pan at the bottom in order to collect waste. This was a design that proved to be extremely unhygienic with its interior becoming fouled and withheld a lingering odour. The Wash-out: The precursor of the modern closet...

Rare Antique George Salter English Iron Station Platform Penny Scale Northwind
By George Salter & Co. Ltd
Located in Dayton, OH
Exquisite museum quality English Imperial penny scale, circa early 20th century. Attributed to Australasian Automatic Weighing Machine Co. Ltd. Made from heavy cast iron with a gunmetal finish featuring high relief scalloping, acanthus leaves, florets and a beautiful North Wind Face in-front of the lattice grate. The North Wind face is a design that became popular in England in the 18th and 19th century as whimsical furniture began to sweep through towns as it made its way across the Atlantic. The North Wind face is said to be seen whispering through furniture as it blows wooden tendrils of wind from its mouth. The dial of the scale is neatly mounted between roman inspired columns. It features a hand painted enameled face with brass bezel and beveled glass. The face is marked in stones the Imperial measuring system which was later customized with markings for pounds. 1 stone is equal to 14 pounds. The center of the face reads "Place One Penny...
