19th Century French Walnut Door

A set of early 19th century French doors from a cabinet or cupboard, crafted of solid chestnut. Thick panels with beautiful hand-carved stylized floral motif and waxed patina. Decorative cast iron escutcheons and large hinges. Working lock and key. All original. Carved in the panel is the name of the women for whom this piece was commissioned, likely as a wedding gift as was the custom: Gabriela Gourmelén and the date, 1823. These salvaged doors may be used to create a stand alone cabinet or may be incorporated into custom kitchen cabinetry...

Made of solid cherry with scroll carving on the door panels and simple circular carved details at the top and on the apron. Original iron hardware and working lock and key. Interior is 20" deep and has one new shelf. The inside opening is 49" high by 46" wide. Heavy and well-crafted with mortise and tenon joints and pegged construction. Chestnut as a secondary wood.
