Japanese Antique Iron-Plated Door 1900s-1940s / Wabi Sabi

About the Item

This is an old sliding door made in Japan. This fixture was made in the early Showa period (1900s-1940s) and has a rare design. The frame is made of solid chestnut wood, with iron plates on the front and plaster on the back. This is the rarest sliding door of this configuration ever seen. The surface of the iron plate, painted green at the time, has changed over time and blended with rust to create the beauty of an abstract painting. It is a unique texture that was accidentally drawn by the forces of nature. The fittings are in excellent condition and can be used as doors. We also recommend using it as an art piece, for example, as a table top. It is a piece that can be used in a variety of ways depending on your imagination. This sliding door is imbued with the spirit of “wabi-sabi,” a uniquely Japanese aesthetic. It evokes a sensibility that accepts change over time and finds beauty in it. Weight: approx. 40 kg ____________________________________ Our Philosophy Objects always tell the truth. All I can do is just to face with them sincerely and give them deep affection as much as I can. There is no boundary of nationalities and of eras in beauty. But I think now is the time we choose 'Japanese style' and it will be the best way to remind us of what we are losing today and to question us about an essence of beauty again. I hope that you can touch the memories which the objects here have, feel and think of something invisible but exists undoubtedly.
