About the Item

A Large Pair of 19th Century Spanish Toledo Gilt Bronze Alhambra Pattern Royal Palace Doors with Gilt Bronze Frame. This rare pair of Spanish dore bronze doors features intricate Islamic-inspired motifs, all meticulously hand-hammered to reflect the architectural legacy of the Alhambra. The panels are adorned with geometric starburst and interlacing patterns, which are characteristic of the Moorish aesthetic and were widely used in Spanish architecture following centuries of Islamic influence in the region. These designs emphasized mathematical precision and symmetry, hallmarks of Islamic taste, which became integral to the Mudéjar style of Spain. Each door features richly textured surfaces with gilt highlights. The frames are detailed with delicate borders, while the original bronze door pulls display elaborate latticework. Functional and artistic, these doors reflect the Islamic-inspired elegance that shaped much of Spain’s decorative traditions. Alhambra-style dore bronze doors are extremely rare, making this pair a significant find. Comparable Islamic-inspired bronze works have been highlighted at prominent auctions, further underscoring their desirability. This set is ideal for collectors or as a remarkable architectural centerpiece. Spain, Circa: 1860
