Pair of 17th Century Chinese Carved Doors or Panels

$5,700

About

Antique Chinese architectural carved panels or possibly a door from the 17th Century in completely organic form, un-restored condition. These doors have a remarkable patina and are very decorative. The hand carvings in high relief and featuring Fenghuang and Phoenix. The Fenghuang is a bird in Chinese mythology that symbolizes the union of male and female, and represents the six celestial bodies. It is a sign of virtue, harmony, and prosperity, often seen in decorations for weddings and royal ceremonies. This set of doors would be perfect mounted as a wall decoration, or perhaps as doors for a custom cabinet. Provenance: Historical Mansion in Beverly Hills, California.
