About the Item

A rare and collectible pair of round brass and enamel door pulls by acclaimed Mexican designer Pepe Mendoza, created in 1958. These sculptural hardware elements feature stylized Chinese characters in relief, surrounded by a decorative border with geometric fretwork. The recessed areas are filled with Mendoza’s iconic blue-green enamel, applied using his signature technique that highlights both texture and color. Stamped on the reverse: “Mendoza / MT-58-3 / Made in Mexico”, confirming the origin, maker, and date. These pieces were originally designed as architectural hardware, but they also function beautifully as cabinet pulls, drawer handles, or decorative wall accents. They embody the unique blend of Mid-Century Modern Mexican craftsmanship and Asian-inspired motifs that define Mendoza’s legacy.
