Set of 3 Victorian Internal Acid Etched Glass Doors

About the Item

This set of 3 Victorian acid etched glass doors make beautiful internal dividing doors for a reception room, hallway or conservatory in a traditionally styled property. Each door is beautifully glazed with acid etched details depicting an idyllic riverbank scene with foliage, birds and cranes. Made from pine, these doors feature smart moulding to the front and back with a natural wood finish to one side and a painted finish on the other. Often found in Victorian properties and listed buildings, acid etching – or French embossing – is a specialist, time-honoured technique developed in the mid 1800s. The process involves applying glass with a coating which is then etched with a decorative design and exposed to acid. This exposure corrodes the glass, creating variances of texture and tone. This results in a highly decorative and artistic finish that brings elegance and beauty to any setting.
