About the Item
Made at the hand a talented blacksmith during the 1930s, this wrought iron dome is an ornate feature for the garden or courtyard of an idyllic and finely landscaped country estate. It could be placed atop a stone or wrought iron gazebo as a focal point or used on its own as a decorative feature amongst a flower bed or fountain. Georgian in style, the wrought iron has been crafted gracefully into a series of uniform scrolls, creating a rounded dome shape. The intricacy of design and craftsmanship is certain to look stunning in any garden.
Wrought Iron Dome for Garden Gazebo
Decorative ironwork made from wrought iron has stood the test of time. This traditional method of craftsmanship sees the metal heated to a high temperature and then hammered into shape by a blacksmith’s hand, creating a robust and durable finish. The more wrought iron is worked, the stronger it becomes, making some of the most ornate garden ironwork some of the strongest. Large scale commercial production of wrought iron products ended in the mid 1970s due to the expensive and time-consuming nature of blacksmithing, making wrought iron items true antiques, showcasing talented craftsmanship of the past.
