A large, over five foot long, antique Georgian pierced brass fireplace hearth fender with beautifully aged patina. Create a stunning focal point with this beautiful ornament! Hand-crafted in England, the elegant Georgian III period (c.1760-1820) features rich openwork decoration, having a floral (daisy or sunflower) motif pattern, framed by running rope twist ornamentation, over molded stepped edge, with solid brass panels at the sides and corners, unusually curved, D shaped, over a thin black iron sheet base.

An exceptional architectural high relief hand carved stone band of running scroll decoration frieze panel, with beautiful scrollwork, representing wind or water, and mythological creature, perhaps a dragon or grotesque griffin. The characters in the center may be Asian hieroglyphs (Japanese kanji). The top side has a dovetail joinery cutout from where it would have attached and fit into place before cementing it in place. 19th century or earlier.
