18th Century French Louis XIV Period 'Cupid' Fireback / Backsplash
About the Item
Beautiful 18th Century French Louis XIV Period fireback with a cupid, two pillars of Hercules and three Fleurs de Lys (French Lillies). The pillars stand for the club of Hercules and symbolize strength and the unknown. The Fleurs de Lys symbolize purity and aristocracy. The date of production, 1731, is also cast in the fireback.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request, it can be made black/pewter at no extra costs. The condition is good, no cracks.
