19th Century French Napoleon III Bronze Fireguard with Hercules and Lion Motif

About the Item

French Napoleon III bronze fireguard from the 19th century. The fireguard has finely cast and chassed bronze figures of a lioness and cub on the left side with a lion and snake on the right side both with a mask of Hercules underneath. The piece’s width is adjustable and can be extended by several inches.
