About the Item

Early 19th century French Louis XIV style fireback with the Arms of France. A coat of arms of the House of Bourbon, an originally French royal house that became a major dynasty in Europe. The house delivered kings for Spain (Navarra), France, both Sicilies, and Parma. Bourbon kings ruled France from 1589 up to the French revolution, as well as some short periods thereafter. The coat of arms consists of three Fleurs de Lys (French Lilies), symbolizing purity and nobility, and a crown, which stands for royalty. The arms are flanked by palm leaves, which symbolize victory. The patina of the fireback is black / pewter colored. It is in good condition and does not have cracks.
