English Arts and Crafts Fireplace Set Lion Motif with Screen, Andirons and Tools
About the Item
English Arts and Crafts Wrought and Cast Iron Fireplace Set with Lion Motifs. It is unusual to have an entire fireplace set that has survived in tact for over 100 years, but this is one. It includes fireplace screen, pair of lion headed andirons, tool holder with lion head and three original tools: a brush, poker and shovel. The screen has a stalking lion as its central motif with leaves and flowers on arching stems framing the lion. The lion heads are cast iron, the rest of the set is of handwrought iron (except the actual screening). The screen is 38" wide x 35" high; the andirons are 12" wide x 23" deep x 25 1/2" high; the Tool holder is 11 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 40" high; the three tools are 31 to 34" long and hang nicely in the tool holder. circa 1900.
