18th - 19th century French neoclassical fireback with two pillars surrounded by wine tendrils. The 'pillars of freedom' symbolize the value liberty, one of the three values of the French revolution. In the center is a decoration of a face of unknown symbolic value.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a black / pewter patina. It is in a good condition and does not have cracks.
