About the Item

For you consideration is this marvelous pair of French gilt bronze chenets / firedogs from 18th century. The Firedogs are exceptional and masterfully made from carved and gilded Bronze, with flamboyant decorative elements which were very common in the era of Louis XVI. Decorated with lion heads, ribbons, railing and columns and on the top with a flame, which most certainly characterises symbol of fireplace. The Greek key design can be seen on the Urns which makes these Firedogs unique. French Chenets serve an important decorative function but apart of it they are used to elevate the logs, allowing for optimal airflow into the fireplace. These pair of Chenets is large and elegant at the same time and can perfectly decorate and fit a living room fireplace. They measures 16" in width, 6 inches in depth and stand 16" tall.
