Large and impressive pair of 19th century Louis XIV style gilt bronze andirons. A festive fire is one of the great pleasures of winter and the warm glow of firelight on the fine French gilt bronze of these magnificent andirons will transform any room. Each composed of a circular reeded plinth topped with a handsome urn shaped finial and resting on a superb scrolled base with a central sea shell motif, acanthus leaf sides and beautifully modelled pomegranite form feet. Acorn shaped log stops. Original gilding, fine details of the decorative elements and substantial original log supports.
