Fireplace protector or screen. Bronze. XIX century.
Fireplace screen of the type sometimes known as a peacock tail due to the way it opens, made of bronze and decorated in the central axis in which the openwork plates that compose it are joined, with architectural elements of clear classicist taste and great influence French. This type of work is seen in the British and French schools and was so popular and appreciated that, in the early 19th century, somewhat simpler brass models were created.
Size: 101 x 13 x 65 cms / cerrado: 20 x 13 x 65 cm. Weight is merely orientative.
