About the Item
19th century French Napoleon III period fireback with the goddess Diana and a cupid. Goddess of hunting, also protector of animals of the forest, especially the young animals. She experienced great pleasure in hunting, but took care that she did not kill more animals than could be eaten.
The fireback is made of cast iron and has a natural brown patina. Upon request it can be made black/pewter. The fireback is in a good condition and does not have cracks.
