About the Item

An unbelievable and special late 19th century gilt bronze firescreen by Maison Bouhon Frères for François Linke Bouhon Frères for François Linke. The cartouche-shaped frame cornered by espagnolettes and centered by two love doves perched on acanthus leaves and roses, with a lyre crossed with a quiver of arrows. The sculptural Mounts designed by Leon Message Stamped BF (Bouhon Frères) and B&C 40 to the backside of the bronze mounts. Maison Bouhon Frères was an important French producer of fine fireplace tools in the nineteenth and twentieth century. Once known as Maison Clavier, Maison Bouhon Frères was already a well-established and reputable firm by 1900, known for their fine bronze and wrought iron fire accessories.
