About the Item

A large and inherently grand late 19th century finely carved walnut fireplace surround in the Georgian manner. A substantial moulded and carved top shelf over a central profusely carved female mask with an under cartouche -flanked either side by shaped barrel moulding with high relief acorn and oak leaf carving, below, a dog leg framed architrave of egg & dart surrounding a square opening, all resting on splayed foot block work. English 1890. Fire opening size:1070mm wide x 1075mm high Overall base width:1580mm.
