19th Century Louis XV Sicilian Marble Chimneypiece
About the Item
An elegant Sicilian marble Chimneypiece in the Louis XV style. Below an arc-en-arbolette shelf, the serpentine frieze has an elaborate shell cartouche with scrolling acanthus between raised and fielded panels. The Jambs comprise bold shell corner blocks with volutes, with bell flower drops above acanthus with volute, on bowed foot blocks. The outer returns have incised panel mouldings around central decorative cast brass roundel.
