A large antique moulded bolection fireplace surround in a beige/grey Grand Napoleon Mouchette Marble, raised on square foot blocks. Together with its integral moulded fender, this piece would suit both, a period, or contemporary setting.
Fireplace internal opening sizes: 1102mm high x 1388mm wide.
Fender dimensions:
Inside sizes: 1410mm long x 273mm deep
Outside sizes: 1612mm long x 375mm deep
Height: 100mm
This Bolection marble fireplace is another Queen Anne design where the focus is on luxuriant curves, rather than just the linear. A robust example of a bolection, a moulding popularised by Sir Christopher Wren following his tours of Italy, and seen in his work for King William III"s private rooms throughout Hampton Court Palace.
