Antique Irish Marble Fireplace
About the Item
Impressive mid-19th century carved statuary marble fireplace. The fireplace has a deep and moulded break fronted shelf, upheld by two large carved corbels with perched eagles, preening themselves. The centre plaque depicts Zeus with his trident, in a chariot, being pulled by seahorses. The spandrels of the arches are carved with acanthus leaf decoration and in the centre a floral keystone.
