A Louis XV, William IV revival, chimneypiece of Campana green marble with serpentine shelf. The frieze is decorated with typical Rococo carving of shell shaped cartouches and scrolling foliage, alongside canted jambs. The Campana marble mine was opened in antiquity in the Hautes Pyranese, and was popular with chimneypiece makers in the 18th century. Good examples of chimneypieces of this marble can be seen in the Salon de la Paix, Versailles, however the mine is now closed.
