About the Item
A nineteenth century Victorian Carrara marble fireplace, English, in the French taste, the curvaceous shelf with egg and dart mould to the front edge, the frieze with spandrels centred by keystone carved with scrolls, scales, guttae and roundels, the out-turned volute jambs with raised and fielded panels to the their front faces, the aperture surrounded by laurel leaf carved architrave, all raised on block feet. Elaborately carved throughout and of the very best quality. Previously of a Holland Park townhouse in London.
