Carved White Marble Fireplace Surround with Caryatid Figures, Never Installed
An impressive and finely carved white marble fireplace surround, designed in classical style with caryatid figures and central mask ornament. Executed in crisp white marble, the surround features detailed floral swags, ribboned busts, and trailing foliage, with the upright supports formed as full-length caryatid figures. A bold architectural piece of strong sculptural presence.
Commissioned as a one-off bespoke piece for a London townhouse, though never installed. The surround is formed of eleven sections, including the mantel shelf, hearth, and uprights.

Condition:
Good condition. Minor surface wear, including small nibbles and light scratches to the marble. One caryatid base shows a historic, well-executed repair (as shown in images).
