Early 18th Century French Chimneypiece, Mantelpiece with Trumeau

About the Item

This 18th century French chimneypiece is made from sandstone and has its original Trumeau or upper piece. It’s a fine example of the Louis XIV style which originates from the reign of the famous Sun King who build Versailles. The elegant proportions are found in the symmetric design and classic mouldings. Both holes in the upper piece can be filled up with stone plaster for the same price. They often are present because at some point the owners of the castle decided to install a stove instead of a open fire. The dimensions are 2.99 x 1.9m or 118 x 77.16 W inches.
