A French Louis XIV Style Antique Statuary White Marble Fireplace Mantel
About the Item
An incredibly well carved Baroque chimney piece executed in Italian Statuary white marble, in the Louis XIV manner circa 1850. The Jambs with left and right facing scrolled console legs decorated with fine descending beading and scrolled acanthus. The corner blocks again with scrolled acanthus. The Frieze with finely carved cameo to centre within a beaded frame, with carved flowers and foliage either side ribbon bow tied beneath. The side returns with large fielded panels within and all beneath a large and very generous serpentine shaped mantle. A very finely carved and superior quality piece.
