French Louis XVI Style Marble and Ormolu-Mounted Mantel
About the Item
An elegant and most attractive French 19th century Louis XVI st. Lumachelle de Lourdes marble and ormolu fireplace mantel. The mantel is raised by handsome jambs with a fine mottled design and impressive richly chased ormolu mounts of an elegant tapered reserve with a fine berried laurel wreath tied with a ribbon. Above each jamb are beautiful ormolu rosettes flanking the straight frieze which is centered by an ormolu mount of a family crest with intricately detailed berried laurel branches. Above is the original Lumachelle de Lourdes marble top.
