About the Item

A painted Georgian neoclassical style fire mantel dating from around 1870. This impressive, large scale fire surround is crafted in pine and ornately decorated with composition embellishments, including Egyptian style carvings to the central tablet, garlands to the frieze and urns to the corner blocks. The tapering jambs resemble iconic greek columns, instilling this surround with neoclassical flair.
