About the Item
A heavily carved 19th century statuary white marble fireplace in the Louis XV manner. The jambs with stiff acanthus leave to the base, surmounted by bell flowers and scrollwork. The frieze with a carved shell to centre flanked by scrollwork and leaf work. Shaped, moulded shelf above, French, circa 1840.
