About the Item
An Irish Regency heavily reeded chimneypiece carved entirely in Old English Carrara marble. A signature thin Regency shelf rests upon well proportioned jambs and frieze. This piece is centred with a vertically reeded tablet rising out of a frieze with shallow reeding running horizontally. The cornerblocks and jambs are carved with a pilaster of prominently carved reeding, terminating in footblocks. The architectural nature of the piece is distinctly Soanian in design.
