The Louis XV: A Classic French Stone Fireplace Evoking the Era of King Louis XV

About the Item

The Louis XV stone fireplace includes a curving top opening, typical of the 18th century Louis XV era in France. There are many variations of this fireplace style, but ours includes a detailed anthemion carving as the centerpiece of the lintel, with a subtle recessed frame to either side. The molding around the curving opening features more curves in the profile. Ornate legs turn out at 45 degrees, with a smaller scrolled detail at the top, followed by a carved shell, and then into another larger scrolling, curved section, down to the blocks of the plinths. The thin shelf piece also features plenty of curves, both in plan view as well as the edging detail. This fireplace looks beautiful in either limestone or marble, and works very well in a Living Room, Great Room, Dining Room, or Primary Bedroom. Custom sizes are available.
