The Marie Antoinette: A Classical Stone Fireplace in the Style of Louis XV

About the Item

The Marie Antoinette is in the classical style of the Louis XV period, with its typical curving lintel piece. Although there are many variations of this style, The Marie Antoinette features a carved shell motif in the center of the lintel, with molding around the fireplace opening that gently curves out as it comes up, across the curved bottom of the lintel, and back down. The elegant legs are both turned out at a 45 degree angle, with small scrolls at the very top, small carved shell details below, and a scrolled, fluted detail that carries down to the well-proportioned feet. The shelf piece is thin, but with an elegant edge detail, and a curved profile, out and back in, to mimic the curves of the lintel. This classic fireplace would work perfectly in a Primary Bedroom, Living Room or Dining Room, and looks gorgeous in both marble and limestone.
