NYC Waldorf Astoria Hotel White Onyx Mantel Green Inlay

About the Item

This small scale white marble mantel features green inlay across its apron and legs that has been remarkably well preserved. The inlay is finely intricate with only the lines on the corner motifs showing some wear. A repair line is visible on the shelf from a repair prior to its removal at the Waldorf Astoria. Also visible is a small chip to the trim below the left corner motif. The gently worn Crema Marfil marble hearth is included. This antique mantel was one of several mantels imported from Europe to furnish the historic Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC, which opened on October 1, 1931. This mantel decorated suite 35-Y - a small suite located immediately around the corner from the Presidential Suite 35-A. A Waldorf Astoria authenticity card is included with your purchase. Please note, this item is located in our Scranton, PA location.
